What should be paid attention to during the operation of the Horizontal End-Suction Centrifugal Pump?

Jun 20, 2024

1. Preparation before starting
The operator should first check whether the pump body is intact and has no cracks, dents or other forms of physical damage. At the same time, it should be ensured that there is no leakage in the inlet and outlet valves, flange connections, etc. of the Horizontal End-Suction Centrifugal Pump. In addition, key components such as the impeller and bearings in the pump body should also be checked to ensure that they are not damaged or excessively worn. The motor is the power source of the HECP, so its operating status directly affects the performance of the pump. Before starting, the operator should check whether the appearance of the motor is intact and free of oil, dust or other debris. At the same time, it should be checked whether the wiring of the motor is firm and there is no looseness or short circuit. In addition, the insulation performance of the motor should also be checked to ensure that it meets safety standards. The various components of the Horizontal End-Suction Centrifugal Pump are connected by bolts, flanges and other connectors. Before starting, the operator should check whether these connecting parts are tightened and there is no looseness. In particular, the connection between the pump body and the motor should ensure that they are well aligned and there is no deviation. If the connecting parts are found to be loose or damaged, they should be tightened or replaced in time. The bearings, seals and other parts of HECP need to be lubricated with lubricating oil. Before starting, the operator should check whether the lubrication system is intact and whether the lubricating oil is sufficient and clean. If the lubricating oil is insufficient or seriously contaminated, new lubricating oil should be added or replaced in time.

2. Precautions during startup and operation
Slow start: When starting the Horizontal End-Suction Centrifugal Pump, ensure slow start to avoid excessive impact on the motor and pump body. Slow start can be achieved by gradually opening the valve or adjusting the frequency converter.
Observe the operation: During the operation of the pump, the operator should pay close attention to the operation of the pump, including parameters such as flow rate, head, motor current, and bearing temperature. If any abnormality is found, the pump should be stopped immediately to check the cause.
Check the pump body temperature: The Horizontal End-Suction Centrifugal Pump will generate a certain amount of heat during operation, so the operator should check the temperature of the pump body regularly. If the pump body temperature is found to be too high, the machine should be stopped to check whether the cooling system is working properly, and timely measures should be taken to reduce the pump body temperature.
Monitor the sound: During the operation of the pump, the operator should carefully monitor the sound of the pump. If any abnormal sound, such as vibration, impact, etc., is found, the pump should be stopped immediately to check the cause.
Pay attention to pipeline vibration: Pipeline vibration may damage the pump body or affect the operating efficiency of the pump. Therefore, during the operation of the pump, the operator should regularly check whether the pipeline has vibration, and take vibration reduction measures if necessary.

3. Processing after shutdown
After the HECP is shut down, the operator should perform the following processing:
Close the valve: First close the inlet and outlet valves of the pump to prevent the residual liquid in the pump body from corroding or damaging the pump body.
Cut off the power supply: Cut off the power supply of the pump to ensure that the motor is no longer running.
Clean the pump body: If there is residual liquid or debris in the pump body, it should be cleaned. When cleaning, you can use clean water to rinse the inside of the pump body and ensure that the inside of the pump body is dry.
Check the parts: Check whether the pump body, motor and various connecting parts are damaged or loose, and repair or replace them if necessary.
